Planning to drop deprecated samba releases in Gentoo

Currently, the releases 3.0 , 3.2, 3.4 and 3.5 of samba are available in Gentoo, but upstream has discontinued releases 3.0 and 3.2 for a while, and currently they are actively maintaining 3.4 and 3.5 .
For the above reason and in order to avoid security issues, I’m planning to drop releases 3.0 and 3.2 from the tree soon, but I’m interested in to know why you, fellow users, are using those old releases. Haven’t you updated your system? Perhaps something is not working right for you with currently stable samba 3.4?

   I think that as long as RHEL5/CentOS5 exists, someone is going to need samba3.0 branch for better compatibility.

   I still use 3.2 because if you got a Windows x64-system, and you share a printer through samba and cups using something newer than 3.3.10, automatic printer driver installation on the Windows system will not work.

4. Using Opera 9.80 on Linux

   Is it possible to make samba-3.2 to use the external sys-libs/tdb instead of bundling their own? Bumped into a problem installing mesa-9999 from x11-overlay which depends on sys-libs/tdb. Managed to work around it, but I guess more and more programs wants to use this lib…
